Raphael Onyedika has added another Belgian title to his growing honours, with the Super Eagles midfielder crowned champion for a second time after Club Brugge confirmed their status at the top via a 2-2 draw at Mechelen.
Club Brugge clinch the title with late-season draw
The result on Thursday night ensured Club Brugge could not be overtaken in the championship playoffs, producing an unassailable four-point cushion at the summit with only one round of fixtures left to complete the campaign.
By finishing the season with 54 points from 39 matches, the Belgian giants ended the regular programme four points clear of their nearest challengers and defending champions, Union St.Gilloise.
Onyedika’s role as Brugge secure the championship
Onyedika was named among the substitutes but did not take the field, making him an unused option as the title was decided. The 25-year-old defensive midfielder is now widely expected to push for a significant move during the summer transfer window.
His season numbers in Belgium
- He featured 23 times and found the net once during the regular season.
- He then made seven appearances in the championship playoffs.
Belgian honours: the midfielder’s trophy trail
Onyedika’s latest triumph builds on a run of silverware in Belgium. He first tasted league success in the Jupiler Pro League during the 2023/2024 season.
He has also collected additional honours, winning the Belgian Cup in 2025 and later adding the Super Cup to his list in the 2025/2026 season.
