Entertainment Tonight had claimed to have received intel from various moles who revealed why the couple had decided to part ways. According to the website, their career are taking over their lives and there just isn't much time for their relationship, so they decided a break up would be better, “their work commitments and careers are very different and they both felt like they should take time apart”.
News of their split broke many fans, especially in Mzansi, as Minka had already been dubbed 'Makoti' after reports that they had decided to move in together a few months after they had started dating.
Minka really seemed to be the perfect half for Trevor because he had seemingly changed his stance on living with a partner. In one of his interviews he had said the following about cohabitation, “I’m a big advocate for not living together ever, even if you’re married.” He continued, “I think one of the biggest reasons people get divorced and relationships break up is because of this cohabiting bullsh-t that we’ve come to believe is the way relationships are supposed to be.”
However, despite their split, it seems the two media personalities are still on good terms, if recent reports are anything to go by. Us Magazine confirmed that the former couple were spotted eating lunch together, just days after their breakup was reported.
It's either the sources got it wrong when their split was confirmed or the two ex lovers have now resorted to being friends - which would not be shocking m, as Trevor is no stranger to having a good relationship with his past girlfriends.
His ex-girlfriend Jordyn Taylor said on her Instagram Stories in January 2019, “Half the things in my inbox are about Trev. Of course I love him. How could you not love him? I love him so much, but you guys should know we broke up, like, last summer.”
Meanwhile, Trevor's last Instagram post had many of his fans a little confused; with some assuming he was serious and the caption was deep, but it actually fact it was a joke. The post was accompanied by a picture of the comedian seated at a bus stop in Miami with the following caption:
"Life is like a bus stop. You find yourself waiting a lot. Sometimes there are people with you and sometimes there are not. And not all the buses are your bus but there’s a bus for everyone. All that matters is that we buy a ticket and get on.
"And sometimes you’re not sitting at a bus stop. It’s just a bench. Also you can sit at a bus stop if you’re tired, you don’t have to catch the bus but the area is generally reserved for bus passengers. So technically sometimes you shouldn’t get on because you weren’t trying to catch the bus. You were just sitting there taking a picture because it looked nice."
