Young musicians across Mzansi have been put on red alert after the team from Block Party music festival invited entries into a competition that offers a once in a lifetime experience - the opportunity to perform on the same stage as Rick Ross when he comes to town this December.
If you missed the news, American superstar Rick Ross will be the headline act at the multi-city Block Party festival which will be taking place in Durban and East London during the upcoming festive season. Rozay will be performing alongside some of Mzansi's biggest musicians, and today it was confirmed that he will also be performing alongside some of Mzansi's most promising up and comers after Block Party confirmed that they are inviting entries.
A press release which was sent directly to ZAlebs explained how to enter:
"To qualify, the entrants must upload a track and pin it on their Twitter pages, tag @BlockPartySA and hashtag #DBNBlockPartyTalent #ELBlockPartyTalent – the track that has the most likes, retweets and comments using the hashtags will win the outstanding prize of performing on one of the most sought after stages this December. The competition will see two winners be selected per region, Durban and East London with the competition opening on Wednesday, 4 December 2019. All entries will be tallied and rounded up with the winner being announced on Thursday, 12 December 2019"
While the entrance mechanism is easy enough, the competition is likely to be stiff. Both regions are melting pot of hot talent and Block Party's marketing manager explained why this is such a big opportunity for young talent when she said:
“Durban and East London youth are never afforded the same opportunities in the entertainment business as those in the greater metropolitans. This is why we want to open the industry to them and who knows, maybe these four youths could be the next NastyC or Kwesta of the industry?”
While Rick Ross will be headlining the event, he will be performing with a roster that includes over 15 local artists at the Rick Ross Block Party. Tickets are currently on sale for the concert which takes place in Durban on Saturday, 21 December and East London on Sunday, 22 December 2019.
