The 22-year-old YouTuber, who just entered the podcasting space, saw himself in dire straits when he made some damning claims about Bonang Matheba. It was during the AKA and Nelli Tembe incident where it was alleged that drugs were involved in their toxic relationship. The YouTuber then made damnatory accusations about Bonang saying she allegedly introduced AKA to drugs.
He claimed that Scoop Makhathini told he and his co-host this information, however Scoop has steered clear away from that whole incident but instead only talked about AKA.
Bonang had discreetly contacted Rea Gopane along with her legal team but he ignored them, so Bonang took the fight to social media. B served him with a letter of demand saying the claim was "false, derogatory and hurtful."
"On Sunday 9 May 2021 you falsely and unlawfully accused Bonang Matheba in a widely published video clip of, inter alia, having introduced AKA (Kieman Jarryd Forbes) to cocaine. In the context of what was being discussed in the video clip this defamatory allegation was exacerbated by the shocking insinuation that the death of AKA's girlfriend Anele (Nellie) Tembe was due to AKA's alleged use of cocaine.
"The allegations were defamatory, hurtful and were deliberately intended to humiliate my client and undermine her reputation. The allegations are also, to your knowledge false. Your false utterances are compounded by the fact that at the time of making them on a public platform, you knew full well that these utterances would be widely viewed given my client's high public profile."
In a single paragraph apology and retraction letter Rea said, "To the extent that I have made statements to certain individuals and in the public media stating or implying Ms Matheba's connection to cocaine, I unequivocally retract all such imputations and unreservedly apologise that they were made. I regret any inconvenience caused to Ms Matheba and undertake that it will not happen again."
An apology video was then followed, but that is not it, Rea still needs to pay Bonang R500 000 which she says she has not yet received. Bonang has been responding to her follower's questions but Rea apparently does not like that so he threatened to violate, he did not say what, but many are assuming it's a gag order.
