The national lockdown has had a strenuous effect on our local musicians as it has cut their main source of income which was live performances.

Chatting to TshisaLive, superstar Candy Tsa Mandebele opened up about having to rely on R600 from her elderly mother to buy groceries.

Times have been so tough for Candy that she even applied for the relief fund which was set aside for artist to no luck. "I applied for relief from the department of sports, arts and culture but haven't received anything. It is difficult,” she shared.

The talented performer also revealed that Bathabile Dlamini sent her a food voucher to help her through these difficult times.

Less than a week ago it was announced that Candy will be joining Skeem Saam on SABC 1. She will portray, Bafedile, a feisty 50- year-old woman, whose return to Turfloop after many years sends shockwaves around the township.
