Cassper Nyovest might have gotten his start as a rapper when he was given his first chance on stage by HHP, who took him on as a protege. However, in the eight years and counting since becoming a household name, Nyovest has diversified into a well respected marketing genius and businessman.

As such, his music, especially in 2022, has failed to make the kind of impact that it used to in the past. As previously reported:
Cassper’s single releases in 2022
Cassper Nyovest promised that his upcoming album was touted as a Hip-Hop album. He even suggested that this album will see him return to focusing on writing bars. A fact which surprised many considering the amount of slack he receives for his penmanship of late.
As such, he began the rollout for the album through attempting “unconventional” releases. First it was the surprise release of his lead single Put Your Hands Up. While Cassper suggested on social media that the single was instrumental in reviving Hip-Hop as it did initially climb the Apple Music charts. Anyone who can say they remember the song today, is clearly a Cassper fan.
He then followed this release with 4 Steps Back, a diss track dedicated to Big Zulu. A track which is currently his biggest hit for this year as it surpassed 1 million views on YouTube. A fact which had encouraged Mufasa to release his third single of the year, Pardon My Arrogance. Safe to say that the single failed again to make an impact outside the first week of its release.
Bana Ba Stout was the last release which even before it was officially released had received mixed reviews. However, at the time of its actual release, the single did manage to trend. However, thereafter, similar to his other releases of the year, was quickly forgotten as more new music was released. As such, it comes as no surprise that Mufasa is looking to do better in the coming New Year.
Cassper set to "seriously" return to music in 2023
Taking to Twitter recently, Cassper Nyovest revealed why he believes that his music has taken a dive in terms of its overall reception from music lovers. This is as he attributed the decline in the popularity of his recent releases to how much his brand has diversified in the past.
Included in his diversification was the launch of his alcohol beverage Billiato, his involvement in fashion with his Drip affiliated business Root of Fame, and the launch of his celebrity boxing matches with Siv Ngesi touted as the next contender to take him on in the ring.
As such, Nyovest asserted that in 2023, he wants to take the time to focus on creating quality and impactful music. This sentiment came off the back of a tweep and fan of his music suggesting that this would have been the perfect time for Nyovest to release an album. This is as South Africans are still awaiting a Song of the Year to usher in the New Year.
