We’re all looking forward to the South African Film And Television Awards taking place on Saturday, May 22, 2021. This year’s ceremony will – for the first time – be broadcast on Mzansi Magic from 19h00. In the years prior the main event was broadcast on SABC.
Today, the hosts for this year’s extravaganza were announced. Taking the stage will be comedian Mpho Popps, Dineo Langa, Lasizwe, Lerato Kganyago and Graeme Richards. Because of the ongoing pandemic and a possible third wave looming, it’ll be a virtual affair. Dineo, Mpho and Graeme will be hosting the main show. This red carpet event will be hosted by Youtuber/reality-television star and Metro FM DJ Lerato Lganyago.
The Craft Awards, taking place the night before May 21, 2021, will be streaming live on the SAFTAs YouTube channel from 19h00. They’ll be hosted by Tracey Lange & SA’s funny girl and satirist, Coconut Kelz.
This started after Ravele tweeted that awards asking that they allow her to host this year.
“Whoever gets this tender, please find me when you're looking for a host! 24 years in the game and never hosted the SAFTAs!? Imagine!”
Tweeps have taken to social media to respond to the announcement of the new hosts.
"I. Am. So. Damn. Proud of you!!!!!!!!! @therealdineo #SAFTAs I can't wait for the outfits, serving multilingual realness and just pure grace! Ke motlotlo, tsala yame"
