Many debated whether there might be a link to the COVID-19 vaccination and the unfortunate incidences of strokes which hit two Durban musicians. L’vovo has always been a vocal anti-vaxxer and so people concluded that his stroke had nothing to do with it.
However, according to Drum, L’vovo admitted that he did take the vaccine, but it had nothing to do with his stroke.
“A lot has been said when people learned that I had a stroke, vaccines were mentioned, I took the vaccines, but I don’t know for sure if it is the cause of the stroke,” he told the publication.
L’vovo then implied that his lifestyle and diet might have been the cause or attributed to his stroke. He also shared that doctors told him his blood pressure was too high.
“People never took into account that we live on the road and what we eat is not healthy and we do not enough rest in-between performances. I was told that my BP is too high, my sleeping routines, and the workload because sometimes you do five gigs in one night. You end up not getting enough rest and the type of food we eat on the road is not healthy and the time we eat affects our diets as artists,” he added.
L’vovo paid homage to his dear friend Mampintsha who he had visited at the hospital before he became hospitalised. “Hambe kahle, mnganiwami. Nami ngiyalulama. I will visit once I’m fully recovered. I love you always,” he wrote. He posted the viral image of Shimora’s son Sponge Wodumo standing infront of his poster, crying.

Following the statement by his management, L’vovo sparked rumours of his death after he was hospitalised. Many said he had died but they refuted such claims.
“This is a public notification to media, events promoters, fans, and all relevant stakeholders by Derrango Records on behalf of its multi-award winning artist by the name of Thokozani Sphamandla Ndlovu also known as ‘Lvovo Derrango’.
“Lvovo Derrango suffered a minor stroke during his performance at Indwedwe on [Friday]. He is admitted at the hospital for medical attention and he is responding very well. We kindly ask that you keep him in your prayers and we’re confident that he will come out of this difficult situation stronger. The family kindly ask for public and media to respect their privacy during this difficult time,” read the statement.
Shortly after that, his record label refuted the ‘hurtful’ claims that he had died.
“This notification serves to dispel the trending rumours that he has passed. This is untrue and grossly hurtful to his family. He is still hospitalised and making excellent progress,” read part of the statement.
