Lady Du opens her own beauty parlour
Back in December 2022, was the first time that the news of Lady Du venturing into the beauty sector were reported. According to online publication Zkhiphani, Lady Du wanted to venture into the space in order to inspire the youth by working with them.
Moreover, when questioned about her experience in the sector, Lady Du made it clear that she has certificates to back her ambitions as she was quoted as explaining:
“I don’t think you guys know all the things I studied, beauty being one of them. After school I studied beauty, travelled the world working on a cruise ship [and] my biggest dream was to own a salon. Music captured me, I focused on it, but now that I can do both, I took my savings, bought a house in the hood so I don’t have to pay rent. I wanted to bring the Sandton experience back to the hood.”
As such, following months of securing her employees and getting her flagship parlour ready, she took to social media to show what the final result looks like. Currently, it is unclear when the official grand opening is set to happen as it seems that the parlour is ready however it has not officially opened for business.
However, Lady Du is not the only ZAlebs that has diversified their celebrity status into the beauty sector, specifically the hair industry with the inclusion of a flagship beauty parlour. That credit goes to producer-DJ and businesswoman DJ Zinhle when she opened her flagship Hair Majesty store. As reported at the time:
Through consistency and finally finding her voice in business, she has achieved this feat. Taking to her social media account, the DJ announced that she has opened the first Hair Majesty by DJ Zinhle flagship palace at the Mall Africa and it looks stunning.
