SABC1 announces the return of uBettina Wethu when season 2 debuts on Monday 15 August 2022. uBettina Wethu will be broadcast every Monday to Wednesday at 19:30. Bettina (Betty), everyone's favourite bestie, returns in a more quirky, funny, self-assured, and motivated way than ever.

uBettina Wethu a dramedy that is an adaptation of the Columbian series Yo Soy Betty La Fea, a television drama successfully adapted for local audiences in 19 countries – including the US adaptation and global hit, Ugly Betty. uBettina Wethu, exciting Season 2 breaks all television conventions, with some clear casting changes and a unique funding model, inclusive of brand partners Standard Bank and AMKA products with the support of the DTIC.
The world currently has 16 Bettys, Mzansi and the rest of Africa is about to meet Betty number 17 who undoubtedly will bring a glittering glow up to our screens in Season 2, portrayed by Kamogelo Molatlhoe. Another change sees Ubettina Wethu’s producers learning from the James Bond school of casting by changing the leading man Dingaan Jiyani to Lunga Tshabalala.
“We had to consider on-screen chemistry, for our new Betty, when Lunga and Kamo came together on screen we realized it was magic at first sight,” says the show’s producer Tshepiso Chikapa Phiri.
Also joining season 2 of uBettina Wethu is Itumeleng Bokaba who joins the show as Zaza. We have new characters that will bring much intrigue to the story expansion, Hungani Ndlovu - playing Betty's new love interest Duma, Nimrod Nkosi joins the cast as Dingaan’s devious estranged dad, a case of Khumbule Khaya and Abby Molz comes on board as Nubia’s new and always on receptionist, Sindi!
For the inhabitants of uBettina Wethu Season 2, it is a period of personal change and professional repositioning. Fresh challenges and hidden pasts emerge fast and thick, creating unrelenting high-stakes tension interspersed with a series of comedic scenarios as life happens while they continue to make plans Betty sets out determined to succeed in her new position as an account manager and establishes boundaries in her troubled relationship with Dingaan. She gets past her transport issues but takes some minor leadership challenges, like assisting Wendell and the Nubia staff in acquiring a wellness area. She hits a speed bump when the demands of her new position grow – like managing moral dilemmas and difficult clients - which even endanger her friendship with Zaza.
