She's the face of the recent spate of gender-based violence attacks in South Africa
But for Cape Town student Uyinene Mrwetyana, her memory will forever live in a touching tribute made by British royal Meghan Markle.
Prince Harry's wife visited a makeshift memorial for Uyinene where she tied a yellow ribbon with a special message in isiXhosa which read 'Simi kunye kulesisimo' (We stand together in this moment).
The royals also shared a poignant message dedicated to Uyinene on their Instagram page.
It read; "The Duchess of Sussex has tied a ribbon at the site where 19-year-old Cape Town student Uyinene Mrwetyana was murdered last month, to pay her respects and to show solidarity with those who have taken a stand against gender based violence and femicide.
Meghan stands with us
The royal and her family are currently in South Africa, also visited Uyinene's mom where she paid her respects.
Over the past few days Meghan has met with women in various sectors including those from impoverished backgrounds, in an effort to engage with and empower them.
But it's the plight for justice for Uyinene that has ultimately captured her heart and attention.
The post continued; "Visiting the site of this tragic death and being able to recognise Uyinene, and all women and girls effected by GBV (specifically in South Africa, but also throughout the world) was personally important to The Duchess.
"The Duchess has taken private visits and meetings over the last two days to deepen her understanding of the current situation and continue to advocate for the rights of women and girls.
It's expected that Meghan will also engage in talks with President Cyril Ramaphosa over how to tackle gender-based violence.
Uyinene was killed by a Post Office worker in a brutal attack last month.
But the 19 year-old is not just another stat when it comes to rape and murder; Uyinene's death has ignited a whole movement called #AmINext and has commanded worldwide attention to South Africa's femicide issue
She may be gone, but Uyinene will never be forgotten
