In 2023, following her divorce and the end of her popular sports and lifestyle show Homeground, Minnie shifted her focus on asserting herself as a respected actress. The first of those leading roles was through the rom-com feature film The Honeymoon.
As reported on the premiere date of the film on Friday, 31 March 2023:
Dlamini will make her debut on the big screen in her new movie The Honeymoon alongside comedian Tumi Morake and actress Kajal Bagwadeen.

The movie is directed by Bianca Isaac and it tells a story about three friends, Noks, Kat and Lu who finds themselves in a predicament where on them gets dumped ahead of her wedding, and the trio decides to turn things around and head to a getaway in Zanzibar, which would have been the supposed-to-wed couple's honeymoon destination.
According to IOL, in an interview, Minnie Dlamini admitted that the character of Lu really spoke to her and related so much to it. Dlamini is overly excited to be featured in this feature film as this is her first project of this magnitude.
Seeing as the premiere weekend box office numbers have been shared, there is a lot for Minnie, Tumi and Kajal to celebrate as The Honeymoon managed to bring an audience to its select movie theatres.
Minnie’s The Honeymoon draws in a crowd
Ahead of the official premiere weekend of The Honeymoon in South African movie theatres, the lead cast of the film were on a promotional trail. Tumi Morake visited Podcast and Chill, Minnie Dlamini went on 94.7 and later in the week was a guest of DJ Fresh’s newly established podcast WAW: What A Week.
This was all in an effort to drum up support for audiences to go and watch the film. An effort that seems to have worked. This is as Tumi took to social media to confirm that the film had made part of the Top 5 box office money makers of the past weekend.
The Honeymoon came in at number five, joining the likes of blockbusters like John Wick 4, Creed lll, Shazam! Fury of the Gods and Dungeons and Dragons.
While this is an impressive feat for the film during its premiere weekend, the big question is whether it can maintain its momentum in the coming weeks. This is as the usual trajectory for locally produced and star-studded casts usually make numbers during their first week. But in the weeks that follow, the film never even makes the Top 10 box office hits of the week in question.
