Mzansi Magic's disgraced show Mnakwethu often gets crucified on social media for their apparent treatment towards women. The show centres around giving men the opportunity to inform their wives that they plan on taking another wife. It seldom trends for the right reasons, until recently with MaShelembe's touching storyline.

Last week's touching episode of Mnakwethu saw MaShelembe, a pregnant wife to Langa, breaking down in tears when her husband informed her that he plans to take a second wife. What startled her is that Langa had already fully paid lobola for MaSithole, without MaShelembe's consent. On top of that, MaSithole is pregnant.
She revealed to her husband that she felt as though he does not value her and that she felt unworthy. Musa too felt the need to ask Langa if he was abusing MaShelembe.
After the episode, Musa Mseleku, MaShelembe and Mnakwethu trended for days. A women's group on Facebook called Ladies' House reached out to her and she informed them that she is 7 months pregnant. Many people wanted to gather their coins and host a provincial baby shower for MaShelembe just to put a smile on her face. Of course many assumed she had left her "emotionally abusive" husband when they offered to buy her clothes, new car, home and so forth.
According to SowetanLive, the brains behind of the provincial baby shower Ncumisa Ndelu, announced that it had been cancelled. The planned baby shower was set to take place on Saturday, September 26 in Durban at the Botanical Gardens. People were invited to drop off their gifts whilst a pampered MaShelembe drives around in a luxury car.
Reason for cancelling the baby shower was because there was another baby shower planned for her on the same exact day. According to Ndelu, MaShelembe agreed to have the shower on September 26 but pulled out at the last minute. But when all else failed, Ndelu decided to call it quits.
Read her statement as quoted by the publication:
“This morning I requested the name of a school closest to her to enable the driver to find her easily. At this point, she informed me that on Friday she will be travelling to Empangeni. I then asked how this was possible because we had agreed on the weekend and everything it entailed.

“...all the women who wanted to shower Makhosi with love...the organiser made it clear that her plan was not flexible in any way, but promised to speak to her committee and get back to me in an hour with a resolution," she said and she added that the conversation between her and the organiser of the other baby had a shady tone, so she pulled out.
“Makhosi is pregnant. I did not and do not want to be the cause or part of the cause of undue emotional or physical stress to her by putting her in an uncomfortable position. To avoid any conflict or perception of conflict, I decided to withdraw from the situation.”
“Ntsike Magwaza of Mrs Hairfidence had generously allowed us to use her business to drop off gifts for those who would not be available for the drive through gift drop-off and baby shower on Sunday. This need not stop.
“Gifts can still be dropped off at 494 Lilian Ngoyi Road (Windermere), Morningside, in Durban. I will find another Good Samaritan to transport the gifts to Nquthu.”
“These past few days I have learnt with such pride that as South Africans we are a kind, compassionate and generous people and that is what I am taking from this experience. I am humbled by the response from ordinary women and women who hold positions of power, who reached out personally because they too were touched as women. My appreciation goes especially to the women and men in business who came forward voluntarily, asking for nothing in return. I wish Makhosi all the best and may this love shown to her by the whole country carry her on her journey,” she concluded her statement.
