Mac G, real name MacGuyver Mukwevho and his team Sol Phenduka and The Ghost Lady are coming to the music and lifestyle channel every Wednesday. They will be doing what they do best which is interviewing some of our favourite celebrities.
Fans are ecstatic however the podcast has gained popularity for being controversial as they are raw and unfiltered. Now that it will be moving to TV, many are concerned that they might be barred from engaging in such topics. However worry not Chillers, because only the celebrity interviews will be broadcast on Channel O, starting from September 1 at 21:30.
According to the press release from Channel O, no topic is off limits.
"No topic is off-limits, from the deeply personal (battling illness, life in prison, childhood traumas), to fame, politics and navigating media scandals. The conversations are so honest and raw that the viewer sometimes feels as though they are eavesdropping on private chats between close friends, a sign of interviewing done right," reads the press release.
Fans can expect famous faces such as Zahara and Kabelo Mabalane in the next coming episodes. Some of the celebrities who have sat down with the team and enjoyed their Grandeur Gin include Sonia Mbele, Vuyo Dabula, Pearl Thusi, Kwesta, Simphiwe Ngema, Zakes Bantwini and his wife Nandi Madida, including many others. Zola 7's interview was a special edition as it first premiered in various Sterkinekor cinemas in three major cities in the country. These included Gateway in Durban, Tiger Valley in Cape Town and Sandton which is in Johannesburg.
As it stands, the podcast's most popular interview which has amassed more than R1.2 million views is the one with iconic actor Israel Zulu. Indeed, the revolution needs to be televised, and it has. M-Net Director of Local Entertainment Channels, Nomsa Philiso commended Mac G's ability to create chemistry between him and his guests.
βWe love giving our viewers content that is relevant, relatable and topical, and Podcast and Chill with MacG is exactly that. The interviews are always candid, interesting and impossible to ignore. The chemistry between MacG and his guests makes for great television and weβre thrilled to have them join Channel O,β commented Nomsa.
Mac G recently made headlines after a clip of Somizi flirting with him went viral. It was an old interview with Somizi whilst he was still working at 94.7.
Mac G starts off by saying, he gone into depression after he was fired from a radio show. He turned to alcohol and sleeping with various women. Then Somgaga, s shocked as he was made a move on him. "Damn, where was I to pounce on you, I've always had a crush on you but you were too young."
