7 years ago, Etv promised to never broadcast the film ever again and said it would be the final broadcasting of the film. According to the broadcaster, over 2 million people tuned in to watch the 1997 classic film Anaconda last week Saturday at 8PM. The horror film stars Jenifer Lopez, Ice Cube, Owen Wilson and Jon Voight, just to name a few. Etv took to social media to thank viewers for their continued support as they never miss when broadcasting the film. It just always manages to pull in the numbers.
Phil Mphela gave the exact figures and said 2.4 million viewers tuned in to enjoy the film for the 100th time.

We cannot help but wonder if the social media outrage is what encouraged people to watch. Well public figures such as Mmusi Maimane and Pearl Thusi expressed disapproval of their choice but Etv remained unshaken. They knew exactly what they are doing with this continued display of the film.
Etv clapped back very hard at Pearl Thusi when she reprimanded them – we wonder if she and her daughters tuned in to watch as instructed by the broadcaster.
Pearl said the broadcaster needs a better marketing team because they have been playing Anaconda since she was her daughters age, “You guys really need a better team to push old and non stop repeat content. Y’all been playing this movie since I was my daughters age. Stop it.”
Etv’s social media manager was not playing when they told Pearl to watch the movie with her daughter Okuhle. Hectic!
Other personalities chimed in; Phil Mphela said, “But you did a whole schtick about never airing the film again. A whole promo about the final screening of the film. So you lied.”
Ms. Party said, “Your marketing person is sleeping. Anaconda came out in 1997. You could’ve given this week’s screening sentimental value. “25 Years of Anaconda.” Give it new life. If you’re gonna play it every few weeks, put your back into it Nani.”

According to News24, Anaconda was broadcast only 19 times on Etv and the final broadcast of the film was in 2014 as promised. In 2014 they said, “You’ve seen it once. You’ve seen it twice. You’ve seen it eighteen times. It’s the movie that just won’t die.”
Pearl Thusi’s activism on social media always lands her in trouble with her followers. She recently vouched for Dineo Ranaka after getting suspended for dancing on top of office tables.
Dineo did the #UmlandoChallenge and she did at work. She got suspended for that but 947 presenters mocked Metro FM by allowing their presenters to do the challenge on top of office furniture.
Pear said she wondered if she was okay, “One of the best things I ever did for my self esteem and growth was to leave Metro FM. It’s one of the decisions I’m proudest of. I hope Dineo is ok.”
