Particularly, when looking at the reach the sound has had. This is as Amapiano artists have managed to carve a lane for themselves as touring and booked and busy artists everywhere in the world. A fact which can be traced to the amount of co-signs that the sound has received internationally.
As such, yet another US artist has taken to their timeline to share themselves jamming to one of the South African sounds, much to the applause of its local fanbase.
Wiz Khalifa jamming to Zula Zula by Khanyisa
One of the local content creators who has managed to carve out a successful music career based on their acclaim is none other than TikTokker Khanyisa. A fact she shared during her interview on Kaya959’s breakfast show with Dineo Ranaka and Sol Phenduka.
One of her hit songs since branching out into music is the single Zula Zula, which she worked on with Focalistic Villosoul, featuring Acutedose. The song was released back in 2022, and the visuals of the music video have already achieved over 1.1 million views since then.
However, one of the biggest co-signs she received recently was when a viral video of US rapper Wiz Khalifa was shared. In the video, Wiz can be seen bopping his head to the single. As such, Khanyisa took to Instagram to share her gratitude for the fact.
Khanyisa is not the only Amapiano artist to achieve a co-sign. However, it is arguably that one of the most beloved Amapiano exports in the country is none other than Tanzania hitmaker Uncle Waffles.
In the two years of her career, Uncle Wafffles has achieved a number of notable co-signs. As reported:
Beyonce co-signed Uncle Waffles. This is as, during one of the transitions during the concert, Uncle Waffles’ Tanzania’s instrumental was sampled. As soon as Uncle Waffles was made aware, she took to Twitter to celebrate with the rest of the country.
In the early hours of Tuesday, 25 April 2023, Ciara took to her Instagram stories to share her love for Uncle Waffles. This is as she shared a video from Uncle Waffles’ second weekend at Coachella and added a caption fawning over the Tanzania hitmaker.
However, this was not the end of the surprise for Uncle Waffles and Ciara fans. This is as Uncle Waffles then took to her own social media to confirm having met Ciara in person. But more than that, Uncle Waffles was also able to teach Ciara the moves from her viral dance challenge Yahyuppiyah challenge.
