Specifically, the presidential hopeful has been more than vocal when it comes to the running of the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture. As such, Matheba has yet again taken to social media to share her displeasure at the treatment of the national women’s football team, Banyana Banyana.
“They’ll pretend to care ka July.” - Bonang
Unlike Bafana Bafana, Banyana Banyana has been a national soccer team that the country can pride itself on. Moreover, as it was confirmed that the team is set to make its way to the World Cup 2023.
One person who cannot be happier about this fact is Bonang Matheba. This is as she took to her Twitter to exclaim her excitement. Moreover, she made it clear that she is looking for the government to fund the travelling and living expenses of the team as they head to the World Cup.
However, in her subsequent tweet, Matheba seemed to have come to the reality of how the team is actually treated by the state. This is as she made the suggestive tweet that the government will only care to make a splash about Banyana Banyana in July 2023 ahead of them making their way to the World Cup 2023.
This is not the first time that Matheba has publicly defended Banyana Banyana and the need for the state to honour and remunerate the team. As reported:
Fighting tooth and nail for Banyana Banyana to be fairly paid after becoming victorious at the Women's Africa Cup On Nation finals. Media personality Bonang Matheba is getting her flowers for taking up to Minister Nathi Mthethwa.

Bonang Matheba has shown her fans and followers to be very vocal for what she is passionate about. This comes after her online squabble with Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture Nathi Mthethwa in the last month or so. Minister Nathi Mthethwa has been finding himself at Bonang Matheba's bad side at every turn.
Taking to social media, tweeps have given Bonang Matheba props for taking up to Minister Nathi Mthethwa following Banyana Banyana's win and becoming Women's Africa Cup Of Nations title winners. As it stands Banyana Banyana players will each get an amount of R450 0000 from their 5.8 Million awarded by the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture.
