DJ Shimza may be one of Mzansi’s best DJs, but recently, it seems like he is always under attack for one reason or another. This time is no different, as social media users told him, in no uncertain terms, that they are getting sick of his clout-chasing gimmicks.
The DJ recently took to Twitter to share a post that was seemingly supposed to be a joke. Either that, or he was trying to clap back at those who attacked him during another recent saga of his. Whatever the case may have been, it did not go as he had hoped.
He posted a picture of a man with extremely dirty feet, on a mattress on the floor. From his caption, this is the position of those who yelled at him, telling him to wash his own socks.
But tweeps were not impressed by his humour. First off, the whole thing happened months ago, so they demanded to know why on earth he would bring it up now. I mean, everybody had moved on from that rather unfortunate and embarrassing moment, so was he just bringing it up in the hopes that he would top social media trends again?
For those who may not be familiar with the incident, here is the story. A few months back, Shimza complained about how tragic it was for him that his housekeeper had not returned from her December holidays.
He said that since she had not returned, he would now have to wash his own socks and small clothes, implying that he finds that a gross thing to do, and would really rather not.
As you can imagine, he was immediately flamed online. Fans thought his tweet sounded arrogant, and they could not understand what kind of grown man would be complaining about having to wash his own underwear and socks. Some even wondered what kind of grown man gives a stranger his small clothes to wash?
The DJ also found himself on Mzansi’s bad side recently, when he blasted Minister Nathi Mthethwa, calling him insensitive. This happened after the minister shared some images of nooses, from a museum that they were visiting.
Shimza found the post a little too soon, since it was also the day that Riky Rick was being laid to rest. He thought it was in extremely poor taste, as the rapper was reported to have taken his own life by hanging.
But people were not on Shimza’s side in this either, and they asked him whether he expected the country to stop.
