Season 1 of The Wife had reached it's end with many viewers reeling in anger at how the producers and writers completely switched the script. For those who read the book way before it got upgraded into a series, they were left disappointed at the turn of events.

Namely the burning of the R80 million which guaranteed Zandile's freedom, the affair between Qhawe and Hlomu and the fact that Zandile had to be broken out from prison instead of being released like the book planned.

But nonetheless, it still promises drama and entertainment and the first three episodes of season 2, lived up to viewers expectations.

What stood out from viewers was the sex scene between Zandile and her husband Nkosana who hadn't seen each other in 10 years. Zandile had been arrested for the murder of her mother and Nkosana promised to bail her out from the trenches.

While his original plan failed, he had to think of another way to get her out so she can rebuild a relationship with her kids.

As a couple who did not see each other for 10 years, they sure did heat up the screen with their sex scene. It said to have topped Hlomu and Qhawe's sex scene though which took place last season.

Writer of the book Dudu had this to say as S2 commences, "As we officially say goodbye to Season 1 of The Wife, crazy as things have been since October 14, I'd like to thank the cast for being as amazing as they have been. You guys wanted it to go on TV, I made it happen. It's time for me to go back to what brought us together, the books."

In a press release, Khanyi spoke about her character and the love she shares with Nkosana, "I'm happy that Season 2 comes out in February, which is the Month of Love, because they have such a beautiful love story. They serve couple goals from the get go, even in prison.

"For the viewer, one thing they'll truly enjoy is their language. Nkosana is very poetic, how he uses his words, and how he relays love to her. Nkosana makes the Zulu language so romantic; he makes it sound like French."

Most times actors have to see some element in themselves in the characters that they play, and for Khanyi she had to find that element in Zandile.

"Out of all characters that I've ever played, Zandile is the most complex one. She challenges me.

"She is not an open book; I am still in the process of trying to find who she is. She's very cold and detached and disconnected from reality. She doesn't cry. She speaks with the same tone. She never lifts her voice. So she frustrates me and she is going to frustrate the viewers, to the extent of almost disowning her because she seems indecisive and manipulative.

"You can never pinpoint what she's going to wake up like the next day. I think even her husband struggles with that.

"But she has one thing about her that I like: she loves deeply, which is something that she has in common with her husband."
