Following his arrest over a R62 tavern bill (yes, R62!), Kwaito star Tokollo “Magesh” Tshabalala is a free man. The artist was arrested on Monday evening after refusing to settle his R62 bill (again, yes, R62!) at a tavern in Bloemfontein. Magesh complained that the two drinks he had bought for him and his friend (Thabiso Mpolo) were too expensive and that he has his own club in Joburg that didn’t charge that much for drinks.
An argument ensued between the singer and the waiters of the tavern before the cops were called to settle the dispute, which lead to Magesh and his friend’s arrest.
Daily Sun then revealed that the two men appeared at the Bloemfontein Magistrate Court on Tuesday, but before they could even hear their charges, the magistrate court announced that their charges had been dropped. Hmmm, just like that? Must be nice to be a celebrity in South Africa.
After the charges were dropped, the two men were said to have left the court immediately, avoiding the gathered journalists and photographers.
Hawu, but Magesh, what’s R62 to a Kwaito star like you?
