The show recently returned for the 5th season and also introduced a new cast member. "In the brand new Season of #Umndeni. The Maseko family is running the show. They welcome a new member, Mpilo, and it's the end of the journey for Colleen," wrote Moja Love announcing the new season on Twitter.
The drama unfolded again on yesterday's episode and viewers have since reacted to the show taking it to the top of the trending topics on Twitter. They are not happy with how Dabula man handled Nkanyezi and here are a few reactions.
@Kudzibabe said Dabula has been assaulting Nkanyezi for a long time, "Dabula assaulting Nkanyezi last season was enough for me 2 be put off him n realize he was a bully n using his manly physical attributes to assault a woman. But angithi he is a pple's fav and you all hyped him, lam surprised you are all only realizing now that he is heartless #Umndeni37124" he said.
@Nqabakazi_22 compared Bujy and Boity's saga to the episode. She tweeted, "So Dabula has the audacity to beat Nkanyezi and always get away with it, kodwa uBujy got arrested for assaulting Boity. Sithule sijongile #Umndeni."
Speaking of Boity and Bujy, Last year TV and Radio personality Bujy Bikwa was arrested after assaulting Rapper and actress Boitumelo 'Boity' Thulu.
It was reported that Boity landed in hospital following the events that took place at the Courtyard Hotel in Midrand.
Bujy had reportedly thrown a bottle of alcohol across Boity face leaving her with a cut.
Confirming the news, Boity released a statement that read, "It is with deep sadness to state that I was indeed an unfortunate victim of a vicious physical assault and I have since opened a case against the culprit, which I am following with a keen interest. I do not wish to comment on the matter any further (at this time).
"I respectfully request some space as I try to find a way to heal both physically and emotionally from this traumatic experience. I have all the faith in our Criminal Justice System and implore everyone to stand firmly against GBV."
A few days later Bujy also released a statement telling his side of the story.
He said, "I was verbally abused and told that my surname has no relation to who I am and because of that, that is why my career is going nowhere in terms of growth, in fact, "what is it that I do in the media industry because I am actually nothing!..
"...being kicked and punched while being told that "I am a man, I am a man," I must take it. The pain of suffering of having to let a woman abuse me verbally and physically while trying to contain myself and holding her hands to stop was not enough until witnesses managed to defuse the situation. That did not make matters subtle, as it was continued that I was insulted."
