He posted “Jokes!!! We are paying for everyone’s university registration fees!” Yes you heard that right; everyone who registered to be assisted will have their registration fee paid for 2022.
The announcement came shortly after he shared his heart break as he felt people on Social Media, Twitter especially wanted to ruin a beautiful campaign targeted to help students get registered in universities. Early today Lasizwe was accused by Twitter users with one asking if there was “Another money heist on the pipeline” and others saying he wanted another millions.
Lasizwe responded by saying it were comments like those that discourage him as he no longer enjoy or likes doing this anymore as it was disheartening. Others were defending and encouraging him while other users told him straight up it was his fault things took the ugly turn, saying that Lasizwe failed to protect the campaign when people asked simple questions. In his response Lasizwe said those simple questions have been answered over and over again, he was tired. It seems like the negative comments didn’t stop him to promote the campaign further as he shortly posted a Give Away in partnership with the Fundi Foundation who are the official managers of the campaign.
In his tweet, Lasizwe asked followers to guess the big news and retweet to stand a chance to win some lunch money if they got close to the answer. We now know what the guessing game was about. The student bag was secured
A question which was more a suggestion rose for the initiative to be a yearly campaign.
In March 2021 Lasizwe and friends started the #R10GoesALongWay Campaign as many students across South Africa were not able to register because of lack of funds.
When the campaign started Fundi Foundation shared that they started by raising R38 000 and went on to raise R2 million that Lasizwe was being accused for wanting for himself. Through the initiative, the foundation was able to fund 106 students of the 161 selected.
The stack got higher this time as they have managed to make dreams come true for students without registration fees. On his celebration post Lasizwe asked users to tag their friends who were in university to let them know it is happening once again. The users responded by retweeting how proud they were of Lasizwe and his team.
Others were cheering for him to keep up the good work. We guess they were suddenly happy and not smelling a money heist anymore. This proved that sometimes one needs all the negative comments to push them forward. We wonder what will happen next year as it keeps getting better and better. Maybe the whole of SA or are we now pushing it?
