The string of achievements appears to be continuing for the multi-talented, Nandi Madida, who announced her new signing with Sony Music. The singer shared a post on Instagram on Thursday, 10 September 2020 to share the good news, merely a week ahead of her upcoming single’s release. She stated, “OFFICIALLY apart of the SONY family! So excited to OFFICIALLY announce I’m signed to SONY!”.
Nandi’s first single under her new record label, Organic, drops on Friday, 18 September 2020 and is said to be based on Sara Baartman. In a post shared on Wednesday, 8 September 2020, the singer stated, "My new single ORGANIC is dedicated to the late Sara Baartman who was born in South Africa. We see her body being appropriated in mainstream media, but she was never celebrated but rather tortured and abused for her African curves that you see so many emulating today. OUR ANCESTOR went through so much."
Along with it being her first song with SONY, Nandi shared that she had teamed up with her husband, Zakes Bantwini on the track. The couple announced that they are releasing their first single together in an effort to dispute the rumours that they had dissolved their marriage. The song was written by the couple with the assistance of their 3-year-old son Shaka.
Along with her announcement, Nandi shared a snippet from her interview with Slikour, which saw her discussing the extent of her partnership with Sony Music. She explained that just like her song, she wanted everything to run organically, and felt that if her fans did not like her new career trajectory, it would be clear.
Some of Nandi’s famous friends joined in the congratulatory messages on the post, including Lerato Kganyago, who asked that she send over the track so she can add it to her setlist.
