Blackburn Open to Offers for Super Eagles Full-Back Ryan Alebiosu

Blackburn Rovers are willing to listen to offers for Nigerian international Ryan Alebiosu this summer, with the right-back emerging from a standout first campaign at the club. The defender, who was born in Nigeria, provided Blackburn with key stability during a vital spell, stringing together strong displays at full-back. Despite finding the net only once, Alebiosu ended the season as a dependable defensive presence, contributing five assists.

That form has drawn interest from clubs across Europe, with Genoa and Everton among those monitoring the situation. With demand increasing for his services, football observers have reported that Genoa has made its interest in Alebiosu explicit. A major part of the attraction is his flexibility, able to operate effectively either at right-back or as a right wing-back. It also appears to be a familiar storyline for Genoa, with the Italian side previously attempting to recruit him from Blackburn.

Genoa did make enquiries as early as January, only for Blackburn to reject the proposal at the time. However, as the Rovers have managed to secure their place in the division and avoid the drop, they are now more open to strengthening their squad through the market and, potentially, through incoming funds. It is being suggested that Genoa could step up their pursuit when the window opens, with talk of an approach around the €5 million mark.

Alebiosu is part of Nigeria’s Super Eagles setup, and he was among those who missed out on the 2026 World Cup. During the 2025/26 Championship season, he played 41 league matches for Blackburn. While goals have not been his main contribution, his strengths lie elsewhere—particularly his electric pace, sharp defensive instincts, and overall game-reading ability—qualities that could make him a valuable addition on Genoa’s right flank.

From Blackburn’s perspective, a sale could deliver a solid return for a player who arrived via an academy pathway from Arsenal. Offloading Alebiosu would also free up additional resources for the club to pursue other targets during the transfer window. Should the move happen, Alebiosu would link up with Nigeria internationals Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, and Troost-Ekong at Genoa.

Alebiosu still has two years remaining on his contract with Blackburn, meaning a departure is not expected to be straightforward. Even after his breakthrough season, it would likely come as a surprise if the Rovers sanctioned a move so soon—unless the club receives a particularly substantial offer.
