Abeokuta-based political figure Fagbenro has framed the results of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries as a sign that party members continue to place their confidence in the leadership skills and political track record of the candidates who emerged victorious.
Speaking on Friday in Abeokuta, he said the selection of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola—widely known as “Yayi”—as the party’s governorship contender has boosted expectations within both APC ranks and among residents across Ogun State ahead of the 2027 general election.
Fagbenro told journalists that, if elected, the candidates are positioned to provide effective representation and advance a more deliberate style of governance for the people.
In his remarks, he extended congratulations to Senator Adeola for winning the governorship ticket, adding that the victory reflected the trust placed in him by the party. He also congratulated Hon. Babatunde Tella on securing the House of Assembly nomination to represent the Abeokuta North State Constituency.
The former councillor further argued that the wins were earned, pointing to what he described as sustained commitment to strengthening the party and pushing development for communities. He said he believes both nominees have the experience, capabilities and leadership attributes needed to move Ogun State forward.
Fagbenro also praised APC members and party leaders in Abeokuta North and around the state for helping ensure that the primary election process remained peaceful and successful.
He urged party supporters to stay united and coordinate their efforts to secure a comprehensive victory for the APC in the upcoming general elections, stressing that the work ahead demands cohesion and dedication from all members. “The task ahead requires unity, commitment and collective effort from all party members. I am confident that with the support of the people, APC will record massive success in the elections,” he said.
The APC primaries in Ogun State were also reported as producing a decisive outcome: Hunye, a contender in the newer governorship primary, polled zero votes, while “Yayi” was said to have swept the poll with 304,055 votes.
