Results from the presidential primary held for Abeokuta South Local Government were announced on Saturday at the Centenary Hall in Ake, Abeokuta, with the Returning Officer, Dr. Samuel Odukoya, stating that the exercise took place smoothly across all 15 political wards within the local government area. Speaking after the collation process, he addressed party officials, security personnel, and other stakeholders gathered for the announcement.
Odukoya said the primary election involved only a single aspirant: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He explained that the local government is classified as metropolitan and is divided into 15 wards, and that voting occurred in all of them under the same arrangement of one candidate.
In his remarks, Odukoya identified himself and reiterated the scope of the process. He noted that accredited voter records showed a total of 24,953 voters, while Tinubu received 24,948 votes. He also emphasized that he was not authorized to declare a final winner at the local level, adding that the formal declaration would be made in Abuja.
He further pointed out that Tinubu’s tally was just under the accredited figure, describing the difference as fewer than ten votes. “He scored the majority,” Odukoya said, before returning the result for the purpose of the primary, and he thanked those present for their participation in the proceedings.
