Announcing the sad news on his YouTube channel without getting into too many details, Sibu said they went through a lot during the lockdown and have decided to part ways.
He said he is still sad and trying to adjust. The Real Goboza presenter also shared that his friends have been helping him deal with his breakup.
Buhle also opened up on Twitter following their breakup. She shared that Sibu saved her life after she was diagnosed with depression, anxiety, bipolar, and ADHD in less than two years.
She added, "on top of that, there’s life to navigate. Sibu has helped me and tolerated things you can’t even imagine. But some journeys are meant to be taken alone so you can give all of yourself. I don’t know a better man than that man and he saved my life. Literally saved my life."
Fans have since reacted to the news and here are a few reactions from Twitter.
@SineKhumalo tweeted, "...I understand how hard it is for Sibu just as it’s hard for you but sometimes you really need to take care of yourself before you hurt him even further, I admire your courage and I wish you all the healing."
YoliPeba: "I totally get and understand Buhle and Sibu breaking up. It was really beautiful watching their relationship more than anything they were great friends as partners, their love was gentle and kind. I really respect the decision they took no matter how hard it was."
Another YouTube couple that recently called it quits is the Digital Creator Thato Rampedi and his girlfriend Mo.
In a statement that Thato shared on his social media platforms, the pair shared that they have shared a magical love, and nothing has changed. "We have chosen to separate as a couple. We fell deeply in love, and have shared a magical journey together."
"Absolutely nothing has changed about how much we love one another, but love is a beautiful adventure that is taking us on different paths."
They asked for space from their fans sharing that they are already getting the necessary support as they go through this period. "There are no secrets nor salacious events at the root of our decision - just two best-friends realising it’s time for some space and help each other live the most joyous fulfilled lives as possible."
"We would appreciate some space as we have our own existing support structures helping us through the process. Love, Mo & Thato."
