Actress Nozuko Ncayiyane's acting has impressed many South Africans who have grown to love her as she entertains them and keeps them company through her craft every weekday at 8:30PM.

The KZN-born actress gets to bless Mzansi’s big screens on Mzansi Magic from Monday to Friday, thanks to the new and much-anticipated telenovela Diep City. The show tells a story of four young women who are struggling to make their way in life. They then end up turning to crime in order to make ends meet. Nozuko plays the lead role of Nokuthula “Nox” Jele who is an ex-con trying to right her wrongs but her past keeps catching up with her.

We've seen her on our television sets, but how much do we know about the budding actress? These are some of the most interesting facts about Nozuko Ncayiyane.

1. Nozuko was born and bred in Port Shepstone, in the south coast of KwaZulu-Natal and was raised by a single mother. She says she has wanted to act from a very young age even though she did not study it acting when she did her tertiary studies.

2. Her birthday is on 12 October 1994. She is 26 years old.

3. The actress was mainly a theatre actor before making her break onto the small screen. She was in productions such as Talking Spirits at The Playhouse in Durba; AntiChrist at the Baxter Theatre in Cape Town and a leading role in Sugary Spice, which had runs at the Olive Tree and Stable Theatre.

4. We first saw her on the small screen when she played the role of Ayanda in the SABC1 drama series Skeem Saam. On the show she played a love interest of Jama (played by Oros Mampofu). A role that made all of Mzansi notice her and fall in love with her craft was that of Phindile on the eTV hit soapie Scandal! One of the acting roles that brought her into the limelight was as Phindile on the eTV weekday soapie Scandal!. She also played the recurring role of Lumka in the Mzansi Magic drama series Abomama season 1.

5. She studied Education at the University of KwaZulu-Natal at the Edgewood Campus.

6. She is an activist and speaks out against gender based violence. Ehen she was young, she watched her stepdads beat up her mother and she was also a victim of the same misfortune as soon as she started dating. “When I was 19-years old, I dated an older guy who was 26 years and he was very abusive. I remember the first slap from my first love, I never questioned it nor told anyone about it. My second love was even worse. He was emotionally, psychologically, and sometimes physically abusive,” she once opened up in an Instagram post.

7. The starlet takes her health very seriously. She is a financial specialist and director of a health, wellbeing and supplement organization called Forever Health Conscious.
