Uzalo star Gugu Gumede recently opened up about her pregnancy journey on her social media platforms.

Taking to Instagram, the actress said her pregnancy is not what she expected. She posted her video of pregnancy expectations vs reality.

"The joy and absolute love is a given; but my oh my, there have been a few other surprises that I was not ready for😂 Mamas," she captioned the video also asking her fans what were their expectations vs realities during their pregnancy.

Taking to the comments section, Mahlangu_hope said, "I thought I'd be banging in photoshoots and be the most energetic since I'm used to working long hours onset but like 😂😢👏 I'm a potato that doesn't even feel the need to take pictures or dress up for anything."

Gugu announced her pregnancy earlier this year. She said her baby is her late grandmom's answered prayer. She wrote, "I have often been asked where I got the strength to continue after my mother’s passing - I got it from my unborn child.

"At her funeral, as I stood at the podium and spoke on my queen’s behalf, I was not alone. The strongest heart was beating inside of me, reviving me. I am alive today because of it."

A few days ago, Gugu celebrated her late mother's 60th birthday. She passed away in September 2021, reportedly due to cardiac arrest linked to COVID-19.

"Mommy, happy 60th birthday! We had planned to do it big, but God had other plans. However, no tears today - just a celebration of a great life. I know @officialrastatheartist would have brought you great laughter with these," she wrote captioning her mother's portrait made by Rasta.

Gugu has opened up several times about losing her mother. She said her mom who was also a leader of the National Freedom Party, worked hard to give her children a better life.

“My mother was a giant. A king. She came from nothing and had the task of breaking many generational curses; blessing many family members in between. She was a dedicated public servant; a pioneer and activist who changed many people’s lives.”

She added that growing up, she and her brother never needed anything, and they also made sure that they did everything for their mother before she passed away.
“We never lacked; and when the opportunity presented itself, we ensured that she never did too - and we are appreciative of this. We thank God that she lived long enough to watch her children be successes in their own rights, and bless her for it in return. Today, we are at peace knowing that she rests with the knowledge that she was loved and appreciated immensely.”
