It’s Official, Real Housewives Of GQ Confirmed

The Real Housewives franchise has seemed to have found an international home in South Africa. For a country with over four times less a population than the country it originates from, the US. South Africa is quickly becoming one of the countries with the biggest concentration of Real Housewives franchises outside of the US.

It’s official, Real Housewive of Gqeberha confirmed 
 
Mzansi Magic took to its social media on Thursday, 5 January 2022, to confirm the upcoming arrival of The Real Housewives of Gqeberha. The news was confirmed with the release of the  official teaser for the upcoming unscripted reality television show. 
 
However, as seen, the actual personalities that would join the show were not yet confirmed. However, it took only for GQ residents to notice slight distinctive features from the shared teaser to find out who will be the cast of the show. Confirmed, was radio personality and clearly wealthy wife, Buli G and wife to ANC politician Ncebo Faku, Unathi Faku. 
While the news of yet another Real Housewives franchise in South Africa being launched was welcomed with fanfair. The matter quickly changed when questions over the actual content of the reality show would be. This is as there has been contention as to whether there is much to do in GQ. 
 
 
While there might be mixed feelings currently about the upcoming premiere of the debut season of The Real Housewives of Gqeberha, here is a list of the other Real Housewives South African franchises that it is joining. 
 
  1. The Real Housewives of Johannesburg
 
While it might have been the reality show to launch a thousand ships as The Real Housewives of Johannesburg was the first to premiere in 2018. This franchise has come to be the most troubled of the South African franchises with its initial cancellation, return with a new cast and subsequent firing of the entire cast and the announcement that the upcoming third season will have a largely new cast
 
  1. The Real Housewives of Durban
 
Arguably, the most successful local franchise, The Real Housewives of Durban first premiered in 2021 marking the second local Real Housewives franchise to premiere. The success of the two already available seasons of the show even resulted in the reality show trending in the US following BravoTV releasing season one back in 2022
 
  1. The Real Housewives of Cape Town
 
The Real Housewives of Cape Town was the first of the 2022 premiering extensions of the franchise. Moreover, it was the first to have its premiere on Mzansi Magic rather than on Showmax. As such, it did not get as much coverage as its predecessors arguably
 
  1. The Real Housewives of Pretoria
 
Touted as the most luxurious and fitting of its Real Housewives association, The Real Housewives of Pretoria was the fourth and most recently premiered series. It was also the first of the local franchises to have an entirely white and Afrikaners cast. Despite this fact, the franchise was well received and seemingly garnered a bigger audience than Cape Town.
