Mfundi Vundla To Be Honoured With Order Of Ikhamanga Silver

The office of the Presidency will honour the Generations: The Legacy creator Mfundi Vundla with the Order of Ikhamaga Silver. This particular honour was instituted exactly 20 years ago. And is bestowed by the President of the country to individuals who have had immense and recognizable contributions to the spheres of arts, culture, literature, music, journalism, and sports.

This great national honour for Mfundi Vundla comes at a time where the television veteran recently shared his journey to death and back. The 76 year old was caught between a hard place and rock after experiencing a series of excruciating chest pains a while back. Upon visiting his doctor, he was told there was nothing to worry about. However, last year February he was then diagnosed with cancer of oesophagus and Vundla is truly grateful to be alive today 

Reportedly, Vundla's contribution to the TV space dates back from 1993, a year before South Africa got its democracy. Vundla has been described as a stalwart and consistent creator of impactful stories that have shaped the aspirations and hopes of South Africans at large.

"Generations: The Legacy is proud to celebrate and congratulate our creator, Mfundi Vundla, being bestowed the Order of Ikhamanga Silver in recognition of his contribution to the arts and culture in South Africa. Since the dawn of democracy, Mr Vundla has been a stalwart and consistent creator of impactful stories that have shaped the aspirations and hopes of South Africans." reads the statement

Vundla, who has the longest running soapie on a national broadcaster channel will the joining the long list of other recipients of this honour for their contributions in their respective fields.

"His immense contribution as a pioneer of uniquely South African soapies is being duly recognized by the Presidency and as Generations: The Legacy, we cannot be prouder to be associated with such an iconic figure in the history of Arts and Culture." reads the statement

Vundla will receive his Order of Ikhamanga during a National Honour, that will take place of the 28th of April.

"The Presidency has announced that the National Honours will be bestowed upon recipients on the 28th of April. We look forward to what promises to be a beautiful evening and once again extend our warmest and heart-felt congratulations to Mr. Vundla." ended the statement
