This was my very first in-studio interview (EVERYTHING else has been virtual). Can you tell how excited I was? Don’t think I could’ve smiled any wider even if I tried (last frame)”

3.
Underground railroad premiere
Mzansi came into a standstill in May when The Underground Railroad premiered. Joburg Theatre also hosted an exclusive watch party screening the first episode of The Underground Railroad on Friday, May 14. Featured on Essence Magazine
Essence Magazine named Thuso one of the most promising black Hollywood stars. She made it to number 16 on the list. She was also featured on the Magazine's May/June issue this year.

The magazine wrote: “Emmy-nominated Thuso Mbedu is one of the most compelling new faces on television. Her road to perdition began during her teenage years on drama series like Snake Park and Scandal. The sky’s the limit for the early-20-year-old and Mbedu’s reaching for higher heights. She’s set to make her international debut in Barry Jenkins’ “The Underground Railroad,” which is based on the Colson Whitehead novel of the same name. There’s no doubt that this young phenom will be a force to headline marquee posters in the near future.”
