SABC acknowledged that Uzalo was not doing well in certain areas but declared that it is not going anywhere. According to Isolezwe, SABC spokespersons said the show is here to stay and it is all thanks to their amazing performance.

Despite the numerous cries from viewers, it does not make any sense to pull the plug on a show that generates revenue for the channel. The channel reportedly made R43 million and they are proud of this figure because they last had such 5 years ago.

During a media briefing, Gugu Ntuli said "We urge viewers to continue doing a wonderful job of watching the programs which are doing extremely well in our stations. In as much those same programs, we are prepared to keep them and urge them to continue performing well," she said as quoted by Isolezwe.

She also tipped her hat off to radio stations in particular Ukhozi FM who is the most listened radio station in the SABC. "Ukhozi FM is one of those stations which we are extremely proud of. Their programs make listeners happy therefore we encourage them to continue doing what they are doing."

Another program which came out tops is the new series uBettina Wethu which stars Farieda "Pharoahfi" Metsileng as the lead actress. The show is based on the international show Ugly Betty. It airs on SABC1 every Monday to Wednesday at 19h30 , and plays Betty Skhakhane.

“We wanted to cast the net as wide as possible and in order to give a fair chance to talented actors and actresses who may not usually have access to agents or auditions,” said Tshepiso Sello Phiri, Producer at Known Associates Entertainment.

A few days ago, Uzalo made history by becoming the very first South African TV soap to reach 1 million followers on Instagram. “#Uzalo is the first SA TV Soapie to reach 1 Million Instagram Followers!! Ng’cela Nithi HoorayThank You to all the Content Contributors, Fans, and Followers!!”

Nompilo Maphumolo gushed about this achievement, “Thank you for the love and support. TV Soapie 1 Million followers. Wake wakubonaphi?... We are all smiles because of you!!! Keep watching. Kusazoba mnandi hoooooreee.”
