It’s the end of the Big Brother Mzansi race for Pretoria-based student athlete Nthabiseng ‘Nthabii’ Mothutsi, who last night became the 10th Housemate to leave the game. The 27-year-old said she felt “overwhelmed” but was also “content and happy” following her eviction.
Asked by Big Brother Mzansi host, Lawrence Maleka, who she was going to miss the most in the house, Nthabii said it was her bestie, Mphowabadimo: “We’re two people with very different personalities, [but] we got along, we understood each other and that’s actually the person that kept me going.”
But it was that close bond with Mphowabadimo which probably cost Nthabii her place in the game, as fellow Housemates cited her being Mpho’s alleged minion as the reason they were nominating her for eviction. When asked by Lawrence if she was indeed being controlled by Mphowabadimo, she said: “That is obviously not true. I just was drawn to her more.”
What does life after Big Brother Mzansi look like for her? “Very bright. I’m definitely going out and pushing more boundaries than I could have imagined.”
This week, the Head of House was Tulz, his second time in the seat – he also has the honour of being the first Housemate to occupy the role at the beginning of the game. The deputy Head of House was Libo.
In addition to Nthabii, also up for eviction this week were Gash1, Mphowabadimo, Nale, Sis Tamara and Thato.
In a week that saw friendships fraying, Housemates plotting against and manipulating each other, crushes ending, new romances blooming and true colours showing, the honeymoon period is certainly over. Housemates nominated each other for various reasons, ranging from a personal “we don’t gel” to a strategic “they’re a threat”.
Forty-two days into the game and with 10 Housemates remaining, things are heating up as the R2-million cash prize edges closer. The rollercoaster can only get more dramatic from here as we pass the halfway mark in the game.
In addition to the grand prize for the winning Housemate, at least one lucky viewer wins R20,000 each week.
