We recently shared images of SomHale, Jub Jub, Lasizwe, Zodwa Wabantu, Makhadzi, Katlego and AKA and asked our readers which celebrity scandal rocked 2021. Two celebrities got the most comments. Let's look at the ZAlebs, who caused a stir with their scandals and managed to keep us entertained this year.
1. Somizi and Mohale.
2021 started on a sour note for the power couple after it was reported that they did not spend Christmas together. From last year there were rumours that they were going through a rough patch but they were mum on this.
While the rumours continued, they continued to keep their private affairs private. It is no doubt that Somizi and Mohale were serving us major couple goals, but Mzansi was shooketh to the core when Mohale revealed the abusive nature of their relationship that left tongues wagging.
Not only that, but the two were also looking to get a divorce. An audio between Mohale and TV producer Legend Manqele was leaked where Mohale alleged that Somizi was abusive and had some wild sexual fantasies.
He also alleged that Somizi threatened to stab him with a kitchen knife and kill them both if he left him. In a statement to rebut the allegations, Somizi said,
“Our relationship has its ups and downs but I have NEVER been physically or knowingly emotionally abusive towards my estranged husband. I vehemently deny the allegations of criminal acts towards him and would like to clear my name of that defamation. What I am going to state however is that we had one altercation in which I had to defend myself and both of us were physically hurt by the other. I am at this stage not at liberty to dive deeper into the details but can state that he is not a victim in this situation.
2. Jub Jub
Jub Jub's infamous interview on Podcast and Chill With MacG landed him in hot water after he claimed to have smashed Amanda Du Pont, who later released a statement alleging that Jub Jub raped him for two years.
“No, you didn’t smash me, you raped me, you forcibly opened my legs, forced me myself for two years and made me believe that there was no way out. . The most painful part of all of this was that I was a virgin and I told him at the time. I told Jub Jub at the time that I was a virgin and I planned to be a virgin until the time I got married,” said a tearful Amanda.
In a statement Jub Jub said he regretted discussing their bedroom affairs in public: "It was inappropriate for me to discuss the intimate details of my relationship with Ms Du Pont in public. I deeply regret the incident," he continues.
