Sunday World reports that the two musos had a hit ordered against them on the 8th of February as they dogged a hail of bullets. On that Monday night, two gunmen fired at the DJ's Mercedes-Benz tour bus in East Rand injuring occupants inside the bus.
The publication revealed that policemen confirmed the incident and said the suspected gunmen were driving an Audi A4. They paint the incidence as such; the car opened fire at the bus from the back and then went on to shoot at it from the front, then sped off.
Two of the artists injured during the attack are hospitalised and in ICU at the Union Hospital in Alberton. One of them has been rumoured to be their newly discovered talent from the Vaal DJ Deetoy who recently released his killer EP Petle Petle. He too, has gone MIA on social media.
Since the shooting, Maphorisa has gone into hiding, according to the publication. They have opened a case at the Katlehong police station.
Even though reasons behind the shooting have not been revealed, social media users have speculated that it involves women. Rumour has it that the musos were partying it up with another man's girlfriend apparently named Nia, who was in that Mercedes-Benz bus.
Here are some of the reactions:
“So SA Media can write 10 thousand articles about DJ Maphorisa and Prince KayBee arguing over masters, but nothing about the attempted hit on Maphorisa and subsequent hospitalization of Deetoy as a direct result of this incident. Do we even have journalists???”

“Damn! They almost killed DJ maphorisa and Kabza De Small. Maphorisa must stay away from thick girls from the east rand,”
“Shooter was the girls’ boyfriend who wanted his girlfriend who was in the Merc bus I wouldn’t blame him. Celebrities must learn to leave people's women, there are dangerous people out there, and just because you are famous doesn’t make you untouchable,”
“I just wish all these DJs can just learn from Coffee. Staying out of people's affairs and chasing the bag will help you LIVE a long and a successful life,”
We wish the hospitalised artists a speedy recovery.
