Phil Mphela reports that the show will end at the end of its second season next year. Production will conclude in February and it will air until September 2022.According to the channel, it decided to discontinue the telenovela because its audience preferred limited series over long-running series. "Our viewership surveys guide us to adapt our content to the evolving needs of our customers. Whilst Legacy is a popular show, our M-net 101 customers have indicated that they now want more limited series rather than long-running telenovelas. The success of our local strategy depends on how well we tune into what our customers would like to see on their screens," says Nomsa Philiso, Executive Head : Programming, Multichoice Group.
The drama series is produced by the Tshedza Production company. Its co-owners said expressed their gratitude to have worked with the channel: "Working with M-Net channel 1010 has always been a dream for us as a company and we thank the channel for their incredible support and encouragement in bringing Legacy to life. All our writers, crew members and actors have poured their hearts and souls into this project. We applaud Multichoice Group for continuing to support local content and look forward to working on other exciting projects in future," said Phathu Makwarela and Gywdion Beynon co-owners of Tshedza Productions.

@Tumi_MrsL "I will definitely miss Sanele that character was so lovable, and Lexi and the uncle… This show really had a great cast. Storyline wasn’t too exciting but we loved the characters man."
@natalia702 "I enjoy Legacy but think its on the wrong channel. If it aired on channels most people can afford the view rate could be higher."
@sandilecntuli "I saw this one coming Phil even before the show started. Legacy has gone the same way as The Wild in 2011-2013. If you can afford DStv Premium, why would you spend your evenings watching a soap opera recycling The Bold and the Beautiful/ Days of our Lives 90s storylines?
The show star the likes of Siyabonga Thwala, Lunga Shabalala, Kgomotso Christopher. Speaking about about playing Msizi Zulu on Legacy, Siyabonga Thwala said: “It all starts with the script and knowing how much freedom the writers and producers give me as an actor to play around and get to discover everything about the character. It’s like a collaboration. Msizi is an ambitious man who feels like he deserves a lot more than what has been given to him. He’s ambitious and will do whatever it takes to get there.
In his mind, white people are necessary to have around, but are also the biggest obstacles in his life and success. He also needs Nirvana by the side, who is the chairperson of the board. But the problem is Nirvana is a tad more principled than him. Msizi will get anyone to be an ally, as long as they serve his purpose.”
