At the inauguration held on Saturday, Hon. Adewale Adeogun, the Deputy Director General overseeing the All APC Support Groups Council for the South-West, said the unification of Christians, Muslims and traditional worshippers under a single political platform is a promising development for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State.
Adeogun described the group as an “organic” support structure aimed at strengthening the party’s grassroots presence while also encouraging prayers for the success of the current administration.
“It is inspiring to see people of different faiths—Christians, Muslims and even those who practise traditional worship—rallying together under one umbrella to back President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Olamilekan Adeola. This kind of unity is a positive signal for Ogun State and for our party,” Adeogun said.
He urged members of the movement to keep their attention on the group’s stated purpose, arguing that Nigeria still requires sustained prayers and continued support for the government in place.
“Our country needs prayers now more than ever. We are convinced this movement will keep praying for the nation and for the administration’s progress. They should stay united and dedicated to their vision,” he added.
The APC figure also called on supporters to secure their Permanent Voter Cards, saying the PVC is the central tool for political participation.
“If someone claims to support President Tinubu or Senator Yayi without holding a voter’s card, that support is incomplete. Every eligible supporter should make sure they obtain their PVC, because a single vote can have a meaningful impact in the 2027 election,” Adeogun said.
Turning to recent events, Adeogun commented on the rescue of abducted schoolchildren and their teachers, describing the operation as a direct fulfilment of the President’s earlier promise that the victims would be freed.
“We believed the President when he assured Nigerians that the kidnapped children and their teachers would be rescued. We are thankful that our prayers have been answered,” he said.
Faith-based group backs Senator Adeola ahead of 2027
- Alhaja Mopelola Adebiyi, a Board of Trustees member of the movement, said she is confident that Senator Adeola will win the 2027 governorship election.
- She said the group has continued to sensitise its members on the importance of obtaining their PVCs as part of preparations for the election.
- Adebiyi argued that collecting voter cards is the legitimate route to choosing the movement’s preferred candidate, adding that the group is optimistic about Senator Yayi’s chances with public support.
- She urged members to maintain unity and avoid internal divisions, saying the movement’s strength rests on togetherness and faith.
- Prophet Adeokin Moses Oladimeji, another Board of Trustees member, said the movement has been in existence for several years with the main goal of backing Senator Adeola’s governorship ambition.
- Oladimeji praised the senator’s efforts and contributions to the state, saying these have continued even before he occupies the governorship office.
- He called for members to stay committed, participate actively in the electoral process, and vote on election day rather than staying at home.
- Oladimeji emphasised that the group’s approach should not rely on violence, framing the PVC as its “weapon” for achieving political goals.
The movement’s inauguration and remarks brought together faith leaders and APC supporters around a common message: unity across religious lines, continued prayer for the administration, and intensified voter mobilisation ahead of the 2027 election.
