The Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State has named Chief Toyin Amuzu as its flagbearer for the House of Representatives race in the Abeokuta South Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
PDP primary names Amuzu as unopposed candidate
The party announced the decision on Sunday following its primary election held at the PDP State Secretariat in Oke-Mosan.
Chief Amuzu was returned unopposed, drawing broad backing from party leaders and members who affirmed his candidacy for the forthcoming parliamentary contest.
Moves, endorsements, and accreditation for the process
At the event, Mallam Bola Taiwo, representing Constituency 1, presented a motion declaring that Hon. Toyin Amuzu enjoys wide acceptance and had been properly ratified to represent the PDP in the 2027 House of Representatives election. The motion was seconded by Alhaji Isa Orunsolu from Constituency 2.
For the primary election, accreditation of party members from ward one through ward fifteen across the Abeokuta South local government area was carried out by Mr. Adebayo Lateef from Ewekoro Local Government and Mr. Lateef Olowu from Ifo Local Government.
INEC oversight and security presence
The conduct of the exercise was supervised by Prince Akeem Ade-Balogun of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), who served as the Electoral Officer. He oversaw the adoption of Chief Amuzu, who was endorsed unanimously as the PDP candidate.
Security agencies were also on hand to support a peaceful and orderly process, including personnel from the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Department of State Services.
Amuzu’s pledges to voters and party supporters
After the primary, Chief Amuzu thanked party leadership, members, and supporters for the confidence shown in him. He said that, if elected, he would work to provide representation that is purposeful and oriented toward the needs of the public.
He argued that his approach would focus on producing strong legislative outcomes and delivering constituency projects aimed at improving communities across the Abeokuta South Federal Constituency.
Chief Amuzu also said his term would be guided by inclusiveness, accountability, and consistent engagement with residents at the grassroots level.
He further indicated that his administration would prioritize projects identified by the people themselves, saying communities would have the chance to decide their development priorities.

- He pledged to align such legacy projects with the needs expressed by the communities’ chosen representatives.
- He stated that residents would be empowered to “state their needs” and help shape priorities for both government-backed initiatives and personal interventions.
- He promised qualitative representation centred on effective lawmaking and execution of projects with direct benefits for the wider population.
Supporters and party members who attended the declaration described the emergence of Chief Amuzu as an important development for the PDP in Abeokuta South ahead of the 2027 elections.
