Popular Twitter influencer Michael Bucwa aka  Mr. Smeg rose to his online fame through posing in photos with his Smeg kettle and later for taking Pearl Thusi out on what Mzansi dubbed as the National date. He has also become noticeable for his open admiration for beautiful celebrity women online. She’s publicly shot his shot to the likes of Pearl Thusi, Elaine, Thuli Phongolo, and American superstar Ari Lennox who shut him down. This week, Mr. Smeg practically asked rapper Gigi Lamayne out on a date and she said yes.

The Twitter influencer rose to his social media stardom especially in January when he initiated a public date with actress and media personality Pearl Thusi which saw many other Tweeps joining in to support the idea all the way to big brands also getting involved and sponsoring the success of the date. The date was live-streamed for fans and had brands such as  Tshepo Jeans, Era by DJ Zinhle, Drip, Mercedes-Benz, Drip Footwear and many also helped make this day extra special for the Tweleb.


He started initiating this possible date by posting a series of the local rapper’s photos, Genesis Gabriella Tina Manney affectionately known as Gigi Lamayne on Twitter. He captioned all the photos “Gigi Lamayne is beautiful,” and in another big tweet, he requested that the Hip Hop star go out on a date with him. “Hey Gigi Lamayne, you are beautiful and I love your music. May I take you out for lunch?” asked Mr. Smeg to which Gigi happily obliged, and even suggested the spot for their date.

The two will enjoy their date at DJ Shimza’s restaurant and lounge The Hangawt in Thembisa, and the DJ has also joined in on the movement leaving many online users waiting to see if any other brands will take part in making the second national date for Mr. Smeg special.
The social media influencer is elated that this time around his shot landed once again, especially after his last interaction with Ari Lennox 2 weeks ago. After inviting Ari to South Africa with hopes of taking her out, Mr. Smeg was disappointed and sad when she simply declined his invitation with a response that read, “your entire existence is nauseating…”

This whole date comes at the perfect time for rapper Gigi Lamayne who recently shared that she is indeed looking for love and keen to explore different ways of finding that love. She took to Twitter to share her preference for men and spiritual gents are at the top of her list. She has also mentioned in the past that she wanted someone who would tame her lifestyle, someone who lives a lifestyle completely different from hers.
