South Africa’s Springbok captain, Siya Kolisi has been announced as the face of a MAJOR new campaign. The World Cup-winning athlete will feature as the face of DStv’s new campaign for their Explora Ultra, which sees him appearing in a creative advert which shows off his acting skills. With Netflix being added to DStv’s new offering, the campaign sees Siya summoning international stars from the third party streaming service to reflect the diverse content that will be available through the device.

According to a statement from DStv on Tuesday, 17 November 2020, Siya will be gathering a super crew of big names in a new creative campaign that highlights DStv’s launch of its next generation decoder, the DStv Explora Ultra which is expected to come out later this year.

In a second part of the campaign, Siya calls upon a group of international stars – all from popular shows on Netflix – reflecting the diverse content that will be available through the Explora Ultra decoder. In this version, characters from iconic shows Stranger Things, Queen Sono, Money Heist and Spenser Confidential are called to the mission.

Thabisa Mkhwanazi, DStv Executive Head of Marketing stated, “Siya is a metaphor for the new super sleek, modern DStv Explora Ultra and his legion of stars represents DStv assembling the very best of content it has to offer. This new generation Explora delivers on DStv’s mission to offer value, convenience and more choice to our customers for all their entertainment needs.”

In September 2020, Mzansi's favourite rugby captain,  joined South African bank First National Bank as their brand ambassador. This deal was negotiated with Siya Kolisi's managers at Roc Nation. The selfless global icon, as described by FNB's Chief Marketing Officer, Faye Mfikwe, he believes his values will work in favour of their cause as he is an iconic figure who gives selflessly.

The first black captain to help the Springboks win the rugby world cup in the year 2019, also made headlines after bagging a deal with Roc Nation Sports International, owned by American rapper Jay Z.

His major win at the Rugby World Cup in Japan not only made the nation proud, but it helped the captain forge strong relationships with the industry greats. A huge fan of Roc Nation, himself, Siya joins an agency that aims to help elevate the careers of athletes, both on and off the field. The agency specializes in securing endorsements deals, media relations and philanthropic projects.
