The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has released a media statement aimed at announcing the new Metro FM line up. The new line up excited radio listeners especially because Tbo Touch has returned to the station for the afternoon drive time slot.

Tbo Touch topped the trends list when it was announced that he would be taking listeners home at around 3PM to 6PM weekdays.

"The station is pleased to announce the new afternoon drive show, The Touchdown with Tbo Touch which will be presented by Thabo ‘Tbo Touch’ Molefe who is back and better than ever. The show will broadcast weekdays from 15:00 -18:00.  A well experienced sports presenter, Morena Mothupi will be joining the team to do the sports segment. This new show promises to be high energy, fast paced and engaging."

Congratulating him was Bonang Matheba who said order had been restored and was extremely excited for the presenter.

Bonang had to take a slight dig at the radio station and said it is run like a circus.

Tweeps congratulated Tbo Touch:

Before he could join it was announced that he would be getting paid close to R500K. But the broadcaster rubbished those claims saying any freelancer would not earn a salary that is close to R200K.

“The public broadcaster rejects this deliberate misinformation as it is misleading and factually incorrect. The SABC’s GCEO does not get involved in lineup negotiations, as that is the job of program managers and business managers. In addition, the SABC does not pay car allowances and other fringe benefits to freelancers.

“Lastly independent contractors do not get involved in soliciting sales and sponsorship, as the SABC does not have a commission scheme that covers individuals outside of Sales staff,” reads the statement.

Bonang was also part of Metro FM and her exit was so sudden and people thought Lerato Kganyago had something to do with it.

Speaking to the Podcast And Chill With MacG team, she said, “I think my darkest moment and I’m not trying to blame anyone, but it was the day when I actually did the show with Bonang on that day I got blamed for her leaving the show.

“I stayed because I wanted to and radio is what I f***n love do you understand. I’m not going to compromise my f ****n meal for somebody else, because if the table were turned, you wouldn't do the same s**t,” she said.
