When it comes to our celebrities, life in the limelight can be a bit pressurizing. From living the ‘it’ life to showing fans that you have it all figured out, some of our Zalebs have found themselves swimming in debt.

Their stories just go to show that no one is perfect and that we can sometimes slip up and make the wrong decisions. Below is a list of celebrities who have found themselves in debt.

King Monada

The Limpopo superstar has time and time again wowed Mzansi with his mansions and luxury cars. But other than that he is one of the most acclaimed artists here in Mzansi.

It therefore came as a shock to many not that long ago when his car was repossessed because of debt. At first, fans had thought it was his haters trying to spread false rumours about him, but Monaada himself confessed that he was indeed in debt and that is why his automobile had to be taken away.

And while many made fun of the whole situation, his fans sympathized with him and encourage him to keep going.

Letoya Makhene

It was just the other day when Letoya and her wife Lebo were topping twitter trends when it was discovered that they had not paid a Bolt driver his many. What was worse was that a convoy of Bolt drivers were spotted parked outside the actress’ home, demanding that they get paid what is rightfully theirs.

A source revealed that Letoya had been using the same Bolt driver each day on her way to and from work but not paying him a single penny. As you can already imagine, this case outraged fans and for letiya, she denied all the claims that were being made against her.

The couple later revealed that the driver had been transporting their son to parties without their consent and the 20 year old was the one who had not paid. Lebo spoke to the Daily Sun saying that the driver should have instead asked for money from their son and not target her wife.

Teko Modise

Teko Modise has always been making headlines for the most unthinkable and unimaginable of events. The retired football player one time almost lost his home after it was learnt that he could not keep up with his bond payments.

Sunday Sun reported that Modise had apparently been defaulting on his payments for up to 10 months, which of course the bank did not let slide and took him to court. For someone who was earning more than R400, 000 a month, fans could not exactly make out exactly what he was doing with his money.

This was one messy situation as Teko never showed up to court to answer as to why he had not been making his payments, especially because the money he was lent by the bank was to build his luxurious home.

Zwai Bala

The former TKZee group member now Music director was hogging headlines not too long ago when it was discovered that he owed SARS R2 million for not paying his taxes.

Apparently the reason he gave for defaulting on his tax payments was that no one had ever told him that musicians also have to pay their taxes. And even if he did, no one had shown him how he was supposed to register.

Yes, you read that right, he didn’t know. Surely SARS let him go after such a half baked excuse right? Well no, they did not. He learnt his lesson quite heavily and we can only hope that he is now paying his dues as he should.

Kabelo Mabalane

Yet another celebrity that has at one point drowned in the sea of debt is this legendary musician who was topping trends after it was discovered that he had defaulted on paying his R1.9 million personal loan.

According to Sunday World, Kabelo was issued with a letter of demand from the service provider, BlueChip Retail Solutions, only for him to retract saying that he only owed them R4,000. This of course was denied hugely by BlueChip claiming that there was no such thing.

In the premise you have failed or alternatively neglected to adhere to the terms and conditions of agreement... Our client notes receipt of payment in the amount of about R250,000. It is noteworthy that the balance remaining amounts to R1,080,295.92.

Babes And Mampintsha

This couple has never been devoid of drama. This one time however, fans believe that they may have taken it too far. This is after it was discovered that they owed a promoter up to R80,000.

The reporter had taken to the media to report that Babes and Mampintsha had actually been set to perform at a new year’s party, and after being paid the R80,000 the couple made a no show and this of course did not sit well with the event organizers.

I've had enough of Babes Wodumo and Mampintsha. They failed to prioritise our event yet we paid them in full. We even agreed that since they claimed that they had too many gigs that night, we agreed that they could come and perform early, around 6 PM on that day.

There you have it, while we love that our celebrities are always living their best life, it is important to remember that not everything that is paraded on social media is not true. Even they have had to live beyond their means and we hope that this serves a lesson to all of us and these celebrities as well.
