If there is one thing that social media will bring an abundance of, it’s unsolicited opinions and advice. And unfortunately for them, this often comes in the form of body shaming for those ZAlebs who happen to be plus sized.
But these celebrities will not let the hate change their opinions of themselves. They love their bodies, and will celebrate them every chance they get, whether their fans like it or not.
Tebogo Thobejane
We might as well crown Tebogo Thobejane the booty queen of Mzansi. She is an actress and a model, and recently became a talk show host when she landed a gig as a “branch” of MacG’s Podcast and Chill, called City Girls With Tebogo.
Perhaps Tebogo’s favourite thing about her body is her booty, and we can see why. She takes pride in her assets, and is famous for serving twerk videos on her Instagram. We can see why she has a massive social media following!
Lesego "ThickLeeyonce" Legobane
ThickLeeyonce is the hardest person to body shame, and not because people haven’t tried. She constantly gets dragged on social media for her weight and body type, but that has never stopped her from being fabulous in everything she does.
She is officially a plus size model, and has worked with big brands including Rich Mnisi and Savage x Fenty by Rihanna. And when she is not posing for the brands, she is serving looks on Instagram, or encouraging body positivity, and we love the influence that she is having. What a babe!

Phindile Gwala
Swimsuit, bodysuit, bodycon, you name it; Phindile Gwala looks phenomenal in it, and she knows it. She is a proud representative of thick girls worldwide. But that is not to say she does not take a keen interest in keeping fit.
It is possible to be proud of being plus sized and to work out intensely, which is what Phindile did and revealed her new banging body. And have you seen her in the red dress? She is just oozing such grace, we cannot keep calm!
Lesego "Coconut Kelz" Tlhabi
Comedian and TV presenter Lesego “Coconut Kelz” Tlhabi is undoubtedly one of Mzansi’s fastest rising stars, after she completely owned 2021. And she is devoted to using her platform to advocate for others, regardless of the consequences.
She recently exposed local fashion designer Lebogang 'Quiteria' Kekana for fat-shaming her, even though she knew she could be risking her job because she was under contract. She will not stand for such comments, as the designer allegedly called her “fatty boom boom” to her face.
Although Lesego has had to endure such embarrassments from those who consider fat people “less than”, she rises above the ignorance every time, and celebrates her body every chance she gets.

DJ Maphorisa
DJ Maphorisa aka Lawd Porry is one of our brightest stars, and yet rather than focus on his brilliant career and undoubted talent, some social media users would rather shame him for his body.
But Porry would not stand for body shaming, as he savagely responded with multiple middle finger emojis to a Twitter user’s comment asking him to go to the gym to get himself some “strong arms”. How is that for strong arms, huh?
Seriously, though, nobody can purport to tell Madumane how to live his life, much less what to do with his weight.

Brown Mbombo
It cannot be easy having a twin sister whose body type is the exact opposite of hers, but Brown Mbombo understands that we all come in different shapes and sizes, and that only makes us more amazing.
She unabashedly celebrates her curves, and Mzansi loves her for it. In fact, she recently caused a frenzy on social media when she shared pictures of herself on vacation. She served some serious voluptuous booty, and Mzansi could not keep calm. We see you, queen! Do your thing!

Busiswa Gqulu
Singer Busiswa Gqulu has always been proud of her curves. And not just hers, but she has always been an important voice for the plus sized community of Mzansi. She provided love and validation, and even sang a song to reinforce that “there is nothing wrong with a fatty”.
Which is why her fans felt particularly bruised and betrayed when she suddenly underwent a drastic weight loss. They felt like she had betrayed the body positivity movement and given in to the agenda to have everyone be skinny. But as we said earlier, it is possible to be proud of your body and still want to make a few changes.
Busiswa is still a curvy queen, and of course she has continued to celebrate her curves. We just don’t know if anyone will be buying into any more fat-love anthems going forward.

You may have noticed that there aren’t half as many men on this list as there are women. Well, that’s because there isn’t half as much pressure for men to be skinny as there is for women, so men hardly ever have to take a stance and declare that they are proud of their bodies. It is considered a default that they are
