Journalist, producer, author, and former Radio 702 presenter Redi Tlhabi turns 43 today and she is aging like fine wine. Redi Thlabi. Known for her talent, Redi Thlabi has been a broadcasting journalist for over a decade and she's come to be known as SA's first lady of journalism.
Her work has inspired many in the country to always stand for what is right as she's prone to talk about societal matters that affect a good number of people in the country.
Despite her good work and being adored by many, there are a few times when Redi has rubbed a few feathers the wrong way. Here's a look at when she got everyone on the TL talking.
Redi Thlabi had to get on Twitter and explain her comments about Bonang's private part and what she meant by what she posted. Literally, her compliment got lost in translation because people were so quick to jump to conclusions!
When a fan of Bonang Matheba's commented about the number of men she had previously been linked to, a conversation was sparked on her timeline. Matheba simply responded with "my vagina, my rules..."
Redi Tlhabi chimed in with her thoughts on the public's unnecessary obsession with Matheba's love life.
Her tweet read:
Quite frankly, I hope her vagina is as talented as the rest of her! And that she KNOWS it! https://t.co/eXu9tynOXz
Redi Tlhabi had some thoughts of her own about Pearl Thusi's interview with her friend AKA on the show, Behind The Story.
During the interview with hip hop star AKA, Pearl seemed to just laugh away at the microaggressions & gender stereotypes expressed by him, in the drama between DJ Zinhle, Bonang, and AKA.
After a viewer sparked a debate on social media, Pandora's box was opened. Redi Tlhabi even questioned Pearl Thusi’s interview skills and also gave her some tips on how to do a better job.
And the interviewer was enjoying it. You CAN in an interview, interrupt & ask tough questions like "Wait, are you really going to perpetuate harmful stereotypes and should YOU not take responsibility for the choices you made?" No need to giggle your way around harmful answers https://t.co/fxXiFyiUQY
Redi Tlhabi tweeted about how the coronavirus outbreak had affected her work schedule. She said because all her impending events abroad had been canceled, she has lost out on a significant amount of money.
The former Radio 702 presenter tweeted;
My bank balance is suddenly empty🤣🤣🤣. Had 6 US events between March and May, all cancelled. I'm glad. Broke but healthy 😜😜. On a serious and broader note, recession, global markets plus Coronaviruses, makes for a gloomy time. Tough times. https://t.co/Pv1AbcGfDL
Tho pursue her other interests, Thlabi hung her mic and headphones to go further her studies in America. She accepted the offer of a fellowship in the United States to broaden her broadcast knowledge and expertise.
Before she left, Redi promised that she was going to focus all her energy on creating campaigns to combat sexual violence in the country.
