Metro FM has not been in its listeners good books in the past months. The SABC radio station has been plagued with a lot of drama; especially where it's management style is concerned.
The drama all started when its listeners' favourite host, DJ Fresh was suspended for using the word "Msunery" (that's not even an actual word). Amidst the news of DJ Fresh's suspension, Bonang came out and labelled the station "a horrible place to work."
As if that was not enough drama! Things got really out of hand when listeners started cyberbullying Relebogile Mabotja - who was The Fresh Breakfast co-host and had been holding the fort in the absence of Big Dawg.
The last straw was when DJ Fresh finally got his ruling, which was a dismissal. Listeners were very unhappy with the decision, with some vowing to follow the DJ wherever he goes - which, in this case, was the 947 drive show with Mantsoe-Pout. The station eventually had to make some changes to its line-up and by so doing, Mo Flava had to take over the breakfast show... but that was not the only take over he did. Mo Flava's move meant that Metro FM did not have a drive show host, and so more drama erupted when the station snatched duo, Sphectactular and DJ Naves from KZN's radio station, Gagasi FM.
Sigh!
ALL of this drama is what has led to the 'Metro FM & The Msunery drama' nomination for the Drama Queen of The Year at this year's Feather Awards.
Metro FM & The Msunery drama are up against Rachel Kolisi - who has had her fair share of drama. Bujy, who was roasted by SA's spiciest food chain, Nandos, is also in that category. All worthy nominees, might we add.
The 11th annual Feather Awards are set to take place on October 17 and will be hosted by The Queen Mzansi stars, Moshe Ndiki and Rami Chuene.
