Taking to Instagram, the TV star said he is campaigning for change and hope.

He also spoke to Daily Sun about his decision. “I made a conscious decision to support Mashaba as a desperate need to participate in bringing about dignity to our nation. He told the publication that he intends to be an active citizen. "We need new energy and direction. We need bold and decisive leadership...My priority right now is my responsibility to be an active citizen and the new commitment I made to the public through Action SA.
Another one of our favorite celebrities who recently entered politics is the TV and Radio personality Kuli Roberts. She joined the African Transformation Movement political party and served as the new councilor candidate for Ward 65 in Tshwane. However, her appointment as a councilor candidate was short-lived.
“The one and only @kuliroberts has joined the winning team. Servant Kuli has signed up to serve the people of South Africa. Servant Kuli is an ATM councilor candidate for Ward 65 in Tshwane. We wish her well,” announced the party leader former president Jacob Zuma’s spokesperson, Mzwanele Manyi.
A few days later Manyi announced that Kuli has been dumped by the party. He tweeted: “Due to unforeseen and confidential circumstances it is no longer possible to have Nomakula Roberts as a member and ward councilor candidate of the African Transformation Movement,” the statement starts off. “Further to the above Ms. Nomakula Roberts has to step down both as the member and ward councillor candidate at the ATM.”
Meanwhile, former Skeem Saam actor and Limpopo Artist Movement chairman Mpho Mashabela is running as an independent candidate.
“I’m contesting ward 12 in Mahwelereng. I was nominated by friends who felt I could represent this ward as I understood its challenges. I was also motivated by One South Africa Movement leader Mmusi Maimane as he’s been supporting local leaders to contest elections independently,” he told Daily Sun.
