Nkulunkulu instantly became a hit after gaining a million views just 2 weeks after it premiered. DJ Maphorisa was not a fan of the song when he first heard it, calling it a horrible song. This was revealed by Cassper on The Braai Show With Cassper Nyovest where he had Kamo Mphela as his guest. He said Maphorisa produced the song and said it is horrible. "Maphorisa produced Nkulunkulu and said the song was horrible," said Cassper.
Speaking to Drum, Kamo said this song serves as a prayer “This song is me praying to God to bless me abundantly with fortune, good health, fame, and success."
In an interview with Mac G, Kamo spoke about fame and how it does not last, "The fame doesn't last that long so you have to make the most of it while you still have time. That's what people don't understand. It's not a lifetime thing unless you are legendary." She adds.

"Cassper is still the biggest artist but he still has to convince people that he is the best. I don't want to go through that personally. There's only so much you can do in your own country. Fill Up was the biggest so what's next? It's easy to get to the top but it's hard to stay there.
As energetic as she is, she often gets body shamed with some people saying she is pregnant. In a trip to Accra, Ghana with her squad she addressed the weight gain claims and said she is just enjoying the money, she is not pregnant.
“Guys, I am not pregnant. Everybody is like, 'is Kamo pregnant?' I’m not mother f***ing pregnant," she shouted. "What the f***! I actually want to scream... guys no, I just gained weight,” she clarified.
Slik Talk even body shamed her and said she looks so big she cannot perform properly.
“You’re an embarrassment to your team, you’re an embarrassment to your craft, you’re an embarrassment to yourself Kamo Mphela. You look like you swallowed a bear, you’re disgusting. You’re an embarrassment.”
“You no longer fit the profile to wear a crop top. Your body no longer qualifies you to wear a crop top. You’re embarrassing yourself showing your love handles and your belly,” he said.
