You may remember her as Lerato Modise from Generations. And while she has been gone from our screens for quite a long time, Abena Ayivor is finally making a big comeback.
Entertainment commentator Phil Mphela recently announced that the actress would be starring in a new upcoming film. The movie called A Royal Surprise is currently in post-production according to its IMDb page, so it shouldn't be too long before it's released.
Abena will be starring alongside other Mzansi talents, including Sivenathi Mabuya, Makgotso M and Thapelo Mokoena. The film will also feature Tyson Ngubeni, a talented comedian who will be making his film debut.
The announcement was a big but welcome surprise. Fans of generations from way back poured in the comments to share their excitement to see Abena back on our screens. I mean she is a phenomenal actress, I'm sure we can all remember.
But Abena has been keeping herself busy since Generations. She was Kwesi in This Life, and has also done a few projects in the United Kingdom. She is a bright star, and we are excited to see what this huge comeback will mean for her career.
She is not the only one who has had big news this week. Just recently, Miss Universe 2019, Zozibini Tunzi, who is undoubtedly one of Mzansi's favourite Miss SAs in history, announced that she would be making her film debut.
The beauty queen is set to appear in the historical drama The Woman King. The show is a huge deal already as she will be acting alongside bright stars like our very own Thuso Mbedu and the talented Viola Davis.

She shared the news of the big project on her Instagram account.
"I am so honored and excited to announce that I have been cast for the film, The Woman King ( @womankingmovie ) . It is a completely new world and first time experience for me so I enter it with the utmost respect and humility. Forever grateful and looking forward ❤ #TheWomanKing," she wrote.

After all the good things Thuso has said about Viola Davis in the past, it is no wonder that Zozi is excited to be working with her. In an interview with W Magazine, Thuso sang Viola’s praises.
“Viola said that she puts an emphasis on finding the why of any character—the reason this character makes any of the choices they make. For the longest time, before coming across that interview, whenever people would ask me about my process, I didn’t know how to articulate it. Listening to her, I thought, That’s exactly how I approach my work!” she said.
If there was ever a trio that was always meant to work together, it is this one of three powerful black women. We cannot wait to see their project come to life!
