At the time of the flooding the KZN Premier Sihle Zikalala said that the provincial government had made an application to the national disaster management centre to access a total of R17 billion in relief funds.
Nomzamo took to her Instagram, to share her heartbreak at what she witnessed in her hometown. She wrote, "It is the most vulnerable and most marginalised that pay the highest price. A road that I use when driving to my mother’s house… that is also a bridge and ‘had’ homes on either said."
